After viewing and discussing several types of African masks, Mr. Hoshibata's
class focused on the Fang Masks. These masks were used by hunters and warriors
and characterized by their elongated form. The fourth graders then created
their own large masks using a limited color palette and simple designs. Mr.
Hoshibata's class will use these next month during a dance for morning ceremonies
with Ms. Canfield.
