Second grade students began this project by exploring all the vibrant, metallic colors and shapes in the art of Gustav Klimt. After preparing a gold paper students used mixed medium to create a Klimt inspired design. The activity was not only an exercise in creativity but also in listening. I called out certain shapes to be added in certain colors and the students interpreted those directions into these masterpieces.
